Zwanenberg Translations was founded in 1996 by Carla Zwanenberg as a one-woman business, focussing on the translation of technical texts. In 2008, husband Robert joined the team.

With this page, we would like to provide you with some information about our services and professional backgrounds. Quality is paramount in our work, and that is why we limit ourselves to subjects and languages we understand. Yes, we are quite picky, but if we choose to work for you, you can count on receiving a top‑notch translation :o).

Originally an agricultural engineer, Carla decided to make a career switch and started studying English translation. At the end of 1996, she founded Zwanenberg Translations and started working with the following language pairs:

Carla specialises in technical texts, such as machine manuals, sales brochures, web pages, and software, and has significant experience in the field of automotive, games, consumer electronics, energy transition and model railroad industry.

In 2003 she was accepted as a member of the Netherlands Society of Interpreters and Translators (NGTV), and several times a year she meets with colleagues to discuss the ins and outs of our work.

Robert is experienced in different areas of this industry, such as technical authoring, translation and illustration. For technical translations he started using Translation Management Systems in 1998. He is familiar with XML-based translations, e.g. using Content Management Systems. In 2008 he joined Carla at Zwanenberg Translations.

His translation experience focuses on automotive, engineering, consumer electronics, agriculture and software (both business and games software), and he works with these language pairs:

Translating technical texts requires a thorough knowledge of the correct terminology. Often the terms are very specific and are not only dependent on the industry, but also on the type of business in which they are used. In order to ensure that our translations “speak your company’s language”, we use special translation software, which enables us to build a glossary of terminology specific to your company. These glossaries are referred to and updated during subsequent orders to ensure consistent and up-to-date use of professional terms.

Document delivery

You can submit your translation orders electronically in the following formats:

The translation cost is based on the number of words in the document to be translated. Therefore you always know in advance the total cost of the translation work you have requested. If you send us the complete text and additional information, we will be happy to provide you with a quote.
